Celtic's league record looks dominant, but split it by opponent and it is a story about the bottom half of the table. Against every higher-tier side they have met this season, the same possession game has broken: they conceded early, trailed at half-time and scored once at most. Hearts are the strongest domestic attack outside Rangers, and they want exactly the transition and wide-delivery game that has hurt Celtic against better teams. This is a meeting between a home wall that has only been tested by weak sides and an attack built to test it.

Celtic win league games by holding the ball and pressing high, and Durán often scores early against weaker teams. Against Rangers twice, Ferencvaros, LASK and Benfica the pattern reversed. Celtic were behind at the break in those games and conceded repeatedly when their possession was turned over. Hearts under Vrancken play direct with less of the ball. Their front four of Wilson, Braga, McPake and Miller is unchanged, has produced most of their league goals and has scored in ten straight matches.

The key matchup is Celtic's stand-in centre-back pairing against that front four. Carter-Vickers is out again, and the patched unit that replaced him had an easy afternoon at Motherwell and then conceded four in Lisbon. Behind Tierney and Donovan, who both push high, is the space Miller and McPake attack. Set pieces matter too: McCart won his aerial duels and set up a goal on Thursday.

On Hearts' side, Ageu's injury hardly touches the XI. McEntee comes into midfield after scoring in midweek. Celtic's defensive numbers from their strong league run mostly came with Carter-Vickers in the side and against lower opposition, so they say little about this back line against this attack.

I expect Celtic to have most of the ball early and to look for the early goal that usually unlocks their league games. Hearts sit in a mid-block and break down the flanks. The match turns on the first goal. If Hearts score first, Celtic chase with crosses and bench attackers and leave space behind. Even if Celtic score first, Hearts' scoring run makes a draw a live shape late on.

That's why I'm siding with Hearts to avoid defeat at Celtic Park. The draw and the narrow Hearts win are both inside the picture that Celtic's season against stronger teams has drawn.
