Two games where one side's repeated mechanism meets the other side's thin spot. In Seoul, an inside-first unbeaten team hosts a KCC side that has played the whole season without two of its domestic stars. In Utsunomiya, the league's most relentless pressure defence meets a rebuilt Brex backcourt still learning a new offence. In both, the side with the repeatable edge only needs it to show up at its normal size.

Samsung vs KCC. Samsung win inside-out: Kerem Kanter plays heavy minutes and carries the post, and the team has won the glass in every box and drawn 15-22 free throws a night. Their weakness repeats too: they lose the turnover battle almost every game. The boards and the foul line have covered that every time, which is why their wins are close but steady.

KCC's offence is Heo Hoon's pick-and-roll with Louis King, plus Shawn Long on the glass. Choi Jun-yong and Song Kyo-chang are in no KCC box this season, and Heo Woong has missed the last three games after a quiet start. Beyond Heo Hoon and King, there is not much scoring. Their two wins needed huge import nights. Since then they lost to DB, KT and JKJ by six or seven each time, and Samsung beat all three of those teams, two of them on the road.

The key matchup is Kanter against Long and Jang Jae-seok. Kanter was KCC's toughest opponent last season. KCC's best weapon, the three, runs into the defence that allows the lowest three-point rate in the league. I expect the early quarters to stay level, then Samsung's second chances and free throws build a lead through the middle of the game. That's why I'm siding with Samsung at home to win this one by a real margin.

Brex vs Nagoya. Nagoya are unbeaten, all on the road, through one thing: they force turnovers. They forced at least 14 in every game, with 10 or more steals in five of six, while giving away only about ten themselves. At Shimane, the closest comparison to this game, they won by 12 and 10 on a back-to-back.

Brex are a new group under a new coach. Newbill is gone, and Kell and Hiejima now run a motion offence that is still settling in. Their ball security is middling, and when Toyama pressured them they gave it away 16 times. Brex's way back is the foul line and the glass through Fotu and Frazier, which should win back a few points but not the whole possession gap.

The flow I expect is Nagoya building leads in runs off live-ball turnovers, with Brex slowing things down at the line to stay close. Brex's home results this season have been roughly level against weaker or similar teams, so beating this defence needs both a clean night with the ball and a hot shooting night. That's why I'm backing Nagoya to win on the road.
