Imabari are 19th in J2 and Sapporo are 9th, but the part that caught my eye is the turnaround: Sapporo come off a 1-0 over Shonan with a two-day gap before this trip, and their coach Kenta Kawai has said himself that it is hard on players and staff. Imabari, meanwhile, drew 1-1 with bottom side Kofu in what is basically a relegation scrap. So the question I'd ask is whether Sapporo's run of clean sheets survives a tired, travelling week, or whether a desperate home side finally gets a clear look.

Sapporo first. Per our records they are 5W 2D 3L in their last ten, with four straight wins to nil (Blaublitz, Montedio, Toyama, Shonan) and just 9 conceded across those ten. That is a side that wins by managing games, not by overwhelming anyone, which fits a short week: you don't need legs to protect a lead, but you do need them to create a second goal. Doshin Sports quotes Kawai on the two-day turnaround and on this being his first homecoming as a coach.

Imabari are the leakier side, 27 conceded in 14 league games, with a 3-3 against Vanraure and a 1-3 at Sendai in recent weeks. They changed coach in September (Abel Mourelo out, assistant Yoshikiyo Kuboyama promoted), and J.League.jp lists a cruciate rupture for defender Ryota Ichihara, plus long-term injuries to a midfielder and their goalkeeper. A thin, rebuilt back line against a team that scores one and shuts the door is an uncomfortable matchup, but only if Imabari can't get the first goal. If they do, Sapporo's tired legs become the story.

One small note: a Sapporo-based report says the venue is Asics Satoyama Stadium, which differs from the name in our supplier data, so check the match card.

The clean sheets are real, but I’d put a question mark over how much control Sapporo had during them. Our match stats have them winning at Toyama with just four shots to 17 and one on target to seven. Imabari took 20 shots against Kofu in their draw, so I’d watch whether Sapporo can keep those attacks outside the box or has to survive another busy stretch. That seems more revealing than the clean-sheet run alone.
