Two NBA matchups, two different questions about where the next good shot comes from. Chicago got to the foul line often against Toronto but kept giving away possessions; Milwaukee's outside shooting against Washington did not keep the Wizards off the line. In Orlando–Minnesota, the recent box scores make me watch the boards as closely as the arc, because Minnesota paired its outside scoring with a big rebounding edge.

Brisbane had most of the chances against Perth and still finished with a one-goal margin. Perth’s Matthew Ellis scored after coming off the bench, which changed the feel of a match Brisbane had led by two. Was that a real shift in Perth’s attacking access, or one efficient moment inside a game Brisbane otherwise controlled?

The CBA slate has a neat cross-check: Zhejiang just disrupted Shandong, and Qingdao now gets the chance to test whether that disruption travels to a different opponent. In the other matchup, Nanjing faces the Shandong team that struggled to keep the ball against Zhejiang. I’m watching how each side gets into its first clean shot after pressure, because the recent scores alone make these games look simpler than they are.

Cleveland went into the break 69–45 up in Philadelphia and still lost 114–106. Both teams made seven threes, and the Sixers had fewer rebounds, so the comeback deserves a closer look than a shooting streak. How did Philadelphia find enough good possessions to score 69 after the break while Cleveland managed 37?

Suwon KT–Wonju DB has a good question hidden behind the recent scores: who gets a usable shot after the first pass goes wrong? KT turned it over 17 times at Anyang and 13 against Mobis; Wonju's latest opponent, KoGas, had 18 turnovers. That points to a lively possession battle, but Wonju also conceded 12 threes to Seoul, so disruption alone won't settle it.

Pafos and Riga FC both changed the game from the bench, and the goals came from those changes. Caio Ferreira came on for Riga and put them ahead; Ken Sema entered for Pafos and then supplied Biel for the equalizer. The draw was not a case of one side simply wearing the other down: the final shot counts were close, and each team had a spell when a fresh player found the decisive opening. It is a good reminder to watch what a substitution changes in the next attack, not just who comes off.

The first Flamengo–Estudiantes meeting looked nothing like a possession contest: Flamengo had more of the ball, yet Estudiantes kept getting into the box. That makes the return match interesting for a different reason than the scoreless result. Flamengo recently found much better access to the penalty area against Bahia, so the test is whether that approach survives Estudiantes’ pressure on the next ball. I would watch where Flamengo’s shots come from before reading much into its share of possession.

Marseille have Pierre-Emile Højbjerg back in the squad picture for Sturm Graz, but his starting role is still open. Bruno Genesio says they will decide whether he can begin the match after a muscle injury kept him out of three games. That choice could change how Marseille cover the space behind their midfield when Sturm break the first line of pressure. A call-up tells us less than the role and minutes he actually gets.

The Clippers’ 121–96 win over Sacramento has a neat wrinkle: they committed one more turnover, and both teams collected the same number of offensive rebounds. The gap came from what happened after they got a shot, with the Clippers making 14 threes to the Kings’ eight. A 32–16 third quarter did most of the separating. That shooting balance is a better question to carry into the Clippers’ upcoming Lakers game and Sacramento’s meeting with Portland than the final margin alone.

Hyundai Skywalkers–Korean Air looks like a lineup chess match. Both sides have already reached the cup semifinals. Korean Air’s last win came with Ryu setting and Kettjinski at opposite while Han Sun-soo rested; Hyundai used a broad rotation in its five-set opener. The receiving matchup after each change could tell us more than the previous set scores.

LG’s Yoo Ki-sang is set to return against Mobis, though his first appearance is expected to be brief. Jumpball reports that he joined LG’s tactical practice after his ankle injury and expects roughly ten minutes on court. With Asem Marei also back, I’m curious how LG uses those minutes while Mobis tests its defence around the rim.

Como's 4–1 against United wasn't just a flood of attempts. United actually took more shots, but Como put far more of theirs on target, and Nico Paz was involved in the move that stretched the lead after the break. The early goal changed the chase; Como then found a way to turn fewer attempts into sharper finishes. That is a more useful story than calling it a one-sided shooting contest.

Cincinnati and D.C. both arrive with ugly recent scorelines, but the games behind them were strange in opposite ways. Cincinnati made chances against Columbus and got nothing; D.C. made its best chances early at Orlando and then faded. Their meeting could turn on whether Cincinnati's pressure keeps producing clear looks after a missed chance, and whether D.C. can make its early attacking threat last beyond one spell. The scoreboard alone is a poor scout here.

Lille and Galatasaray both have recent scores that are too easy to flatten into a form label. Lille took 17 shots in the Brest draw after managing four at Arsenal; Galatasaray took 18 against Genclerbirligi after five against Barcelona. In their upcoming meeting, I’m interested in which side can turn possession into good shooting positions once the other blocks the direct route. A long spell on the ball might tell us less than where the eventual shots come from.

Oklahoma City’s win in San Antonio wasn’t a steady four-quarter squeeze. The Thunder built their cushion in the second quarter, then the Spurs won the third and still had too much to recover. Both teams recorded the same turnovers and offensive rebounds, which makes the gap in outside shooting more interesting than a simple possession-count story. Does that shooting balance hold when Oklahoma City faces Denver and San Antonio faces Houston?

Kawasaki’s four goals against Cerezo and Kobe’s three against Okayama came from very different games. Kawasaki twice lost a lead even after Cerezo went down a player; Kobe spent a scoreless first half defending before its press and direct play took over. I’m watching the space behind Kawasaki’s midfield when an attack breaks down. If Kobe win that next ball, they can put the home side back under pressure quickly; if Kawasaki keep it, Kobe may have to defend another long spell.

The Knicks–Sixers opener has a better question than who won their preseason meeting: what happens to the next possession after a miss? Philadelphia had the stronger perimeter return in that meeting, while New York later found plenty of assisted baskets against Toronto and still gave the ball away often. If the Knicks' ball movement survives without handing Philadelphia extra chances, that earlier score could be a poor guide. If the Sixers get repeat looks from outside, New York's passing alone may not change the shape of the game.

Napoli–Bodo/Glimt has a neat tension between shot volume and the quality allowed at the other end. Napoli took 29 shots against Venezia and still failed to score; Bodo kept Dortmund to modest recorded chances in its recent win. If Bodo can make Napoli's extra attempts come from awkward positions, that volume may be less threatening than it looks. If Napoli pin Bodo back without giving up a clean exit, Bodo's own attacking numbers may be harder to carry into this match.

Barcelona's defensive reshuffle could change the midfield contest against PSG. Hansi Flick says Frenkie de Jong, Rodri and first-time call-up Àlex Campos are options with Jules Koundé and Eric García unavailable. Using a midfielder at the back may affect who can receive the next pass when Barça build out. That choice feels more revealing than a simple count of absentees.

Seoul Knights–Anyang has a fun possession tug-of-war. Anyang's latest win came with 11 steals and only four turnovers of its own; Seoul gave the ball away just twice in its league opener. If Seoul keeps that handle, Anyang may have to win more of its possessions in the half court. If Anyang can hurry Seoul into mistakes, the game could take a very different rhythm. Which side's habit survives this matchup?
