The Rakuten Golden Eagles offer strong underdog value at home against a Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks team that has already clinched the division and is actively resting players. Rakuten's starter Kenta Maeda has been excellent since June, and they easily handled SoftBank 8-2 just a few days ago under similar conditions.
SoftBank's sheer overall depth is respected by the market, but their motivation has visibly dipped. They have deactivated a key pitcher to prepare for the Climax Series and are relying on swingman Taiga Kamichatani to cover innings in this game.
Rakuten is out of the playoff race, but Maeda's presence on the mound and their recent blowout win against this same rotated Hawks squad make them the better side to back. The visitors simply have no reason to push hard in this spot.
