Two struggling teams meet here, and each is built to hurt the other in a different place. Phoenix score in volume but give away free throws and open threes at one of the worst rates in the league. Orlando can't shoot well in the half-court, but they defend far better than Phoenix and want to live in the paint. This match turns on whether Orlando's paint attack can reach the free-throw line often enough to cover for their shooting.

Phoenix's pattern is clear from their recent games. They scored 113 or more in five of their last six, but conceded at least 113 in every one of them. Opponents attempted 37, 41, 29 and 32 free throws in four of those games, and Devin Booker has fouled out in two straight. Without Mark Williams anchoring the middle, the Suns split centre minutes between Maluach and Ighodaro, and their coach has admitted the defence leans on that five-man spot.

Orlando are the opposite. Their offence is among the weakest in the league, but their defence has held most opponents between 102 and 115. With Banchero and Suggs out, they run through Franz Wagner and Desmond Bane, and the plan is to attack the paint and read from there.

The lineup change that matters is Anthony Black. He sat out Orlando's last game against Washington, and that was the version that broke down: 18 turnovers and only 10 free-throw attempts. In the two games before that, with Black handling and driving, Orlando got to the line 19 and 29 times, and he drew 11 attempts by himself against Boston. He is reported as expected to play here and is off the injury list. Every other Orlando absence was already missing from their recent games, so this is the same group plus its missing handler.

Along the three-point line, Orlando take plenty of attempts, and Phoenix allow opponents to shoot over 40 percent. Phoenix's steal numbers have been low lately, so Orlando's turnover habit has less to feed on. Phoenix are also on the second night of a back-to-back, though I'm not leaning on that.

The likely flow is Phoenix level or slightly ahead early, as they usually start well at home. Then Orlando gain through the second and third quarters, when the Suns' defence has been leaking and the fouls start to pile up. If Booker gets into foul trouble again, the closing stretch tilts further. That's why I'm siding with Orlando to win this one outright on the road.
