This looks like a slow, physical, low-scoring game decided by rebounds, turnovers and two-point shooting rather than by who hits more threes. Both teams defend the arc well and score only 78 to 79 a game, which squeezes margins. Dubai have the better top-end talent and the home floor, but their results so far have been narrow.
In the Euroleague Dubai have beaten Real Madrid by one and Barcelona by seven at home, and lost by ten at Fenerbahce. That loss came from two-point shooting, rebounds and turnovers, not from the arc. Their 38.5 percent from three over the recent box scores is well above what usually holds, while Crvena Zvezda have shot only about 26 percent from three and 40 percent overall, which is more likely to drift up than down.
Zvezda's three Euroleague games were all decided by one to six points. They lost at home to Zalgiris and Hapoel by small margins, then stayed level with Efes into the last quarter and won. They were also the home favourites in two of those games, so the big price gap here says more about home court, the trip and squad news than about a huge quality gap. They are billed as the best rebounding team in Europe, and the Dubai coach himself named their offensive rebounding and fast break as the things to control.
The absences matter. Zvezda are without centre Motley for weeks, and Dobric is a match-day decision, so the interior is thinner than the season rebound rank suggests. If Izundu gets into foul trouble, Dubai can score inside. That is the real route to a comfortable home win, and it is why I am not backing Zvezda to win outright. Dubai also have no Jaiteh, but they are deep enough to cover.
The likely flow is a slightly better start from Dubai at home, Zvezda keeping the gap in single digits through second chances, steals and the free-throw line, and a final quarter that stays tight. A typical result is a Dubai win by four to nine points.
That's why I'm siding with Crvena Zvezda on the margin: the winner is probably Dubai, but this structure points to a close game rather than a comfortable cover.
