Kawasaki’s quick wingers should test the space behind Cerezo’s wingbacks, but every recovery could give Cerezo a route the other way. Machín has asked his side to win duels and switch quickly into attack. The question is whether Cerezo can make that first forward pass cleanly after spending energy closing down Kawasaki’s wide players. If they cannot, the same wingback keeps having to defend the next wave.
Cerezo’s own report of the cup win over Tottori describes attacks down the left and a late winner made by Yokoyama’s pass between defenders, but it also describes trouble after they lost the ball centrally. Cerezo changed eight starters for that game; Kawasaki also had a cup match in the short gap before this league fixture. That makes the sharpness of the recovery and the next pass more useful to watch than either cup score on its own.
