The rebound count might be the wrong scoreboard to watch in Cairns–Brisbane. Cairns just beat Melbourne while losing the glass, and Brisbane lost to Tasmania while winning it. If Cairns keeps disrupting the ball, Brisbane’s extra rebounds may buy back possessions it already gave away; if Brisbane takes care of the ball, Cairns has to find another way to end defensive trips. I’m curious which team turns its stops into actual shots.
In the provisional game records, Cairns had 12 steals to Melbourne’s four in a 107–95 win, despite being outrebounded 42–32. Brisbane outrebounded Tasmania 41–32 in its latest game but committed 16 turnovers to Tasmania’s 12 and lost 109–99 after overtime. Those are single-game clues, not a formula for this matchup.
