Tai Po's compact defence can make long stretches of Pathum possession depend on the quality of the next box touch. Pathum have shown they can reach that area through central recoveries, but their current finishing chain is less settled than their shot count suggests. Shenhua can release Gao Tianyi and Teixeira into wide supply, while Machida's pressure begins at the first central pass and continues through the second ball. The two matches turn on whether repeated entries become clean finishes after those midfield contests.
Tai Po's Moreno and Wong Hin-sum must contest Pathum's first pass into Chanathip or Lucas Andersen. The home side can then use Cai Lijing and Marquinhos on the wings, with Wallisson challenging for the next ball; that route was visible in its recent Kitchee win. Pathum made ten box shots against Adelaide, but the Jurina-to-Gustavsson scoring connection from that game was absent from its latest listed squad. Raniel did not travel, while Nikolić did start the most recent match after an earlier injury concern. Tai Po's own Rigo, Chan Siu-kwan and Nando have resumed training, with their match roles still unconfirmed.
Pathum should have spells of territory and corners, as Lion City did when Tai Po held a compact shape for much of that meeting. Tai Po's pressing and wide outlet give it a way to answer after a clearance, and Pathum's newer forward group has yet to show the same repeated finishing link away from home. That's why I'm siding with Tai Po to stay close.
Machida can press Shenhua's first release through Lavi and Mae, then move the second ball toward Akimoto, Soma and a central runner. At Shimizu, Lavi finished a recycled cross and Akimoto's carry helped create the next goal; against Kobe, Machida made nineteen shots and forced saves without scoring. Shenhua's Gao supplied a corner goal in the last match and Asue played the full game, so their delivery and box target remain present.
Zhu Chenjie was diagnosed with a facial fracture and missed Shenhua's latest match, changing the central first pass. Wu Xi left that match early and his availability remains unconfirmed; Asue's earlier injury concern is superseded by his recent minutes. Machida's pressure should test that altered outlet, with its wide runners and second-ball receivers sustaining the next box entry. That's why I'm siding with Machida to win this match.
