Three home sides whose strengths meet their visitors' weak points on the same timeline. FC Tokyo score first and rarely concede, against a Kashiwa side that keeps falling behind early. Urawa score late with a deep second group, against a Chiba side that keeps conceding late. And in Seoul, a paint-first Samsung defence meets a KCC team whose current lineup lacks the depth its reputation suggests.

FC Tokyo v Kashiwa. Kashiwa will have the ball: they build short from the back and try to wear teams down with a bench wave at half-time, with Segawa coming on. But they went behind first in 6 of the 9 league games I read and kept only one clean sheet. Against Nagoya's aggressive defence they lost the ball in their own build-up. Tokyo, in the same stretch, conceded 3 goals and scored the first goal every time, with Nagakura's runs, Marcelo Ryan's hold-up play and corners for Scholz. Kashiwa's defence is also weaker now: Baba has been out since his knee injury, a midfielder is filling in at centre-back, and backup keeper Nagai has taken over after Wakahara's second concussion substitution. Kashiwa's comebacks came against blocks that leaked or were down to ten men. Against a Tokyo side already ahead, that wave most likely ends level at best. I'm siding with FC Tokyo.

Urawa v Chiba. Urawa's leaky reputation comes mostly from the opening weeks (15 conceded in the first five league games, 6 in the last five). They have scored in 9 of 10 league games, and they keep scoring late: twice in the closing minutes at Fukuoka, twice after the hour against Marinos, and in stoppage time at Mito. Chiba work hard and press, and set pieces with Suzuki are their best weapon, but they have not won away this season, with 4 goals in 5 trips. Their defining pattern is late collapse: they conceded at the 90th minute against Okayama and Verdy, and they lost first-half leads at Shimizu and Nagasaki. Minamino has missed Urawa's last two match sheets, and they won both without him. Even if Chiba strike first, the late hour belongs to Urawa's bench. I'm backing Urawa.

Samsung v KCC. Samsung are unbeaten by playing through Kanter inside, cutting their own three-point volume and packing the paint on defence, which ranks second in the league. KCC as currently fielded are mostly Louis King and Heo Hoon on the pick-and-roll, with the worst offensive rating in the league, three straight losses, and Heo Ung, Choi Jun-yong and Song Kyo-chang all missing from recent box scores. Kanter against a thin KCC frontcourt with Sean Long out of form is the key matchup, and KCC's eight-man rotation has faded in fourth quarters. KCC's threes can swing a single night, but the structure favours the home side. I'm with Samsung to win.
