Lion City left Adelaide with a 2–0 win in our provisional match record, but the shot count tells a livelier story than the score. Lion City took 25 shots to Adelaide's 15, yet the match was still scoreless at the break. The opener arrived late and the second came after Adelaide had to chase. Did anyone watching see a shift in where Lion City were getting the ball, or was it a long spell of pressure that finally paid off?
The record has Hugo Gomes scoring first and Lennart Thy adding the second in stoppage time. Lion City also had more shots from inside the box, 16 to 12. Those totals show the shape of the contest; they do not, by themselves, explain why the breakthrough took so long.
