Two B.League games where the price seems to lean on an older picture of the matchup. Nagasaki come in without their key frontcourt piece, on their third game in five days, and their road numbers against common opponents trail Shiga's badly. In Okinawa, Gunma's first-meeting win came from the glass and the foul line, before Ryukyu got their big man back. In both games what has changed since the last meeting counts for more than the name on the shirt.

Shiga under Calero play fast and live at the free-throw line. Their home games this season have all landed in the 170s and 180s, and they win by turning steals into transition. Nagasaki are the opposite: slow, three-heavy, built to grind games into the 140s and 150s. The common-opponent rows tell the story. Shiga were level away at Kyoto while Nagasaki lost there by 25. Shiga lost to Sunrockers by 7 while Nagasaki lost by 32.

The key matchup is Shiga's tempo against Nagasaki's legs. Akil Mitchell is still on the injured list, so every recent Nagasaki number comes without him, and their frontcourt is thin. Baba, Randolph and Kumagai played again at Saga, so that is the roster to expect. On short rest Nagasaki's fourth quarters have collapsed, scoring 11, 11 and 13. The route for them is a hot night from three that slows everything down, which is why I want a margin that allows for a close finish. I'm siding with Shiga at home.

In Okinawa, Gunma won here earlier this month by winning the boards, getting to the line far more often and watching Ryukyu miss inside. Kawamata has come back since, and Ryukyu's rebounding and second-chance points jumped in the two games after his return. Gunma's own coach and players have named offensive rebounds conceded and second-quarter stalls as their problems, and their road scoring has been thin.

Gunma shoot a high volume of threes and are better at the line, so this can come down to a possession or two late. Ryukyu's recent home blowouts came against weaker opponents. That is why I'm taking Ryukyu with points rather than outright: the glass has swung their way since the first meeting, and a tight finish still works for them.
