San Antonio and Houston can both create points in the paint, then change the game with runs from their guards. Newcastle and Macarthur bring a different version of the same question: whether repeated entries lead to ordinary finishes or depend on set pieces and isolated moments. Both matches should turn on how well each side completes a possession after the first action.
Houston's VanVleet controlled the Dallas game with 11 assists, while Durant, Smith and Sengun scored from different areas and Thompson helped create second shots. San Antonio has Fox, Castle and Harper attacking downhill, with Wembanyama protecting the rim and ending possessions on the glass. Fox and Keldon Johnson played the Spurs' opener and are now questionable; Houston's Adams missed its opener and remains questionable, while Sheppard played and is questionable. Houston's creators can keep answering after a Spurs run, as Durant and VanVleet did when Dallas narrowed its deficit. That depth of responses is why I'm siding with the Rockets to stay close.
Newcastle used Lolley's delivery for repeated box access against Central Coast, with Wood getting several chances, while Macarthur created only two shots on target against Perth. Paull's duel with Lolley and Fraser's set-piece service should shape the wide contest. Newcastle's Grant is back in the extended squad after missing the derby, but his match role is unproven; Macarthur's Toure played a short substitute spell before the reported shoulder problem. If Newcastle speeds up its wide play, it can keep Wood supplied and collect second balls around the area. That repeated supply is why I'm siding with the Jets.
