Both of these games pair a home favourite whose wins depend on shooting variance with a visiting side whose main weapon hits the hosts' weakest unit. Sono win from the arc and leak in the paint. Utsunomiya win close and rarely pull away. In both matches the structure points to a tight finish rather than a comfortable home win.

Goyang Sono against LG Sakers. Sono's three wins in their streak needed 15, 16 and 16 made threes. Meanwhile they allow the league's highest two-point and paint percentages. LG run their offence through Asem Marei, who averages 13.5 rebounds and is LG's extra-possession route on the offensive glass, and they protect the ball with single-digit turnovers in most games. On defence LG take away the arc: opponents attempted only 15 to 26 threes in six box scores. So Sono's main weapon meets LG's main defensive habit, and LG's main weapon meets Sono's biggest hole.

Marei played 35 minutes and Yoo Ki-sang 32 in LG's last game, and the full lineup's results since then have been one-possession games: a five-point win at Mobis and a one-point loss at SK. I expect LG to push the game inside and keep it within a possession or two into the fourth quarter. That's why I'm siding with LG to stay close.

Utsunomiya Brex against Kawasaki Brave Thunders. Kawasaki's heavy losses this season came from opponents raining threes on them or forcing 20+ turnovers with a trapping defence. Brex do neither: they shoot about 31% from three and force around 12 turnovers a game. Kawasaki score inside through Alex Kirk, Jaylen LeDee and Matt Bonds, against a Brex defence that let the two strongest inside teams it faced shoot 68-71% on twos.

Brex's home results this season were +10, -3, -11, +3, -29 and +7, so only one of six went beyond a single-digit margin in their favour. Kawasaki's core rotation all played last time out, and the absentees are end-of-bench players. I expect Brex to lead early and to win on Trey Kell's shot-making and free throws, but by a margin closer to Brex's usual narrow ones. That's why I'm siding with Kawasaki to keep it close.
