Corinthians' eight straight league defeats are the headline, but the odder detail is that they walk into this match already safe from the bottom four whatever happens, per Lance, so the pressure is about the streak and a new coach who can't sit on the bench, not the table. Clarence Seedorf wasn't registered in time, so assistant Léo Porto runs the side, and Memphis Depay is suspended on his third yellow. Vitória, meanwhile, have to rebuild their back line without Cacá, who is suspended and, per Itatiaia, belongs to Corinthians. So the question for me is whether an improvised Corinthians front can get at a patched Vitória defence before nerves get to them.
Corinthians first. Lance has Rodrigo Garro and Kaio César back from suspension and expected to start, with Labyad, Kayke and Raniele out long term after knee surgeries. The open question is the striker: Lance's probable XI has Yuri Alberto up front, but Itatiaia's earlier preview listed him out with a stomach complaint and put Gui Negão in the line-up instead. I'd wait for the confirmed team sheet before leaning on either version. The first meeting this season was 0-0, per Campo Grande News, so there is no obvious scoring pattern to lean on.
Vitória come in 12th on 36 points, four clear of Corinthians, with Jair Ventura having to change his centre-back pair; Itatiaia's probable defence is Brítez or Edenílson, Luan Cândido and Jamerson around Mateus Silva. Our availability records also show a long injury list on that side. What I'd look at is how Vitória deal with Corinthians' wide runners if Matheuzinho and Bidu push on, and whether Garro, who has just come back, is the one who finds the gaps between a rebuilt back line and their midfield.
I'm not calling a winner here. A side on eight straight losses can look jittery for sixty minutes or play loose because the relegation threat is gone for the round, and both of those are plausible in the first match of a new regime.
