Inter have found a repeat route into the box, while Milan's possession has not always brought its forwards close enough to goal. Both sides can break quickly after a midfield turnover. The wide spaces behind the advancing players should matter as much as the ball share. This derby looks set to turn on who can sustain the next attack after the first chance.
Barella and Calhanoglu can move Inter from a second-ball win to Dimarco or Diouf, then into Thuram and Esposito. Inter filled the box against Fiorentina and Venezia, with several possible receivers for the final pass. Milan's answer runs through Modric releasing Pulisic or Moreira into those wide spaces, but its last home match showed how its attack can lose height after the break.
Tomori left Milan's last game after a half and is newly out; Gabbia and Saelemaekers were already missing. Rabiot, Gila and Moreira are available for assessment rather than confirmed full-match starters. Inter's Lautaro and Luis Henrique did not play the last match, and their other listed absences are carryovers. The current Inter supply has therefore been seen without them.
Inter can keep reaching the area through either wing and use the next receiver when the first delivery is blocked. Milan still have a quick release, but their patched cover and thinner recent box presence make Inter's repeated entries more telling. That's why I'm siding with Inter to win.
