Bourg are the defending Eurocup champions, and the price leans heavily on that name. But the squad that won it has largely been taken apart over the summer, and this season's results look nothing like a champion's. That gap between the label and the roster is what this slip is built on.
Bourg opened the group with an 8-point loss at Napoli. In preseason they lost by 21 to Panathinaikos and by 24 to Partizan, and they dropped a league game at Saint-Quentin 103-106. A preseason power ranking I read puts them fifth in their group of eight, and notes they lost the Finals MVP and most of the core that won the title.
Tofas rebuilt just as much, with a new coach and almost an entirely new roster. Even so, they opened the Eurocup with a 13-point win over Chemnitz, and in preseason they beat Galatasaray twice. The same ranking has them second in this group. Their weak spot is defence: they gave up 101 in a league loss at Denizli, so a home shooting night for Bourg is the live way this goes the other way.
Rest does not separate the sides. Both played a league game about three days ago, and Bourg have two matches in the past seven days to Tofas's one. The two have never met in our records, so there is no head-to-head to lean on. I am treating this as a game where the home side's name is worth more than its current form.
