Mikawa and Gunma both have ways to continue an attack after the first drive is crowded. Their big men connect scoring, passing and repeat attempts, while the guards can change where the next advantage begins. The Chiba derby presents a related question: how well each defense covers the receiver and the next pass after containing the ballhandler.
Mikawa’s Kubota and Nishida can connect with Gardner and O’Mara, then receive the ball back against a moving defense. Kennedy’s use at power forward has already widened the floor when the paint became crowded. Gunma bring Johnson and Jones attacking from the wings, Nakamura’s distribution, and Blackshear’s inside receiving, contact and offensive rebounding.
Gunma’s latest rotations operated without Tsuji following his reported injury. The scoring picture uses those actual lineups, with the other principal creators on both teams having played their latest match. It rests on their passing and finishing connections rather than repeating Mikawa’s exceptional outside shooting games.
I expect the opening pressure to lead into adjustments around the big men, with each side retaining ways to answer the other’s scoring. That’s why I’m backing a higher-scoring game between SeaHorses Mikawa and Gunma.
Altiri’s Pardon supplied six assists in the latest match, alongside creation from Newbill, Kurokawa and Sugimoto. Davis adds an interior finish and defensive presence. Those roles meet a Jets defense that recently conceded easy shots after late help and failed to end possessions on the glass.
Randolph is newly eligible for the Jets, while Gill’s contract has expired. Randolph adds a guard option alongside Togashi; Gill’s departure removes frontcourt minutes. Watanabe has already played two substantial return appearances, and the working interior comparison follows the latest lineups without an assumed Costello return.
Togashi’s passing and the Jets’ spacing should produce scoring stretches, while Altiri’s receivers give them ways to answer through the middle quarters and late possessions. That’s why I’m siding with Altiri Chiba to stay close, taking the points rather than asking them to win outright.
