This match is decided less by the names on Napoli's teamsheet than by what happens to their legs after half-time. Napoli under Allegri win through quality arriving from midfield, but their defence has stopped holding for ninety minutes. Lazio come in rested, with a deeper bench and a flank-and-cross game that hits exactly where Napoli are thinnest. The first half should be tight; the second half is where it tilts.

The pattern at Napoli is dated and repeated. Bodo had almost nothing before the break at the Maradona and then a big second half. Roma scored all three of their goals after the 69th minute after Napoli led by two. Juventus scored late twice, and Porto flipped a level game after the interval with corner headers. Four straight matches, the same failure mode.

The causes are all present again. Napoli play on short rest after a Champions League trip to Porto, where they finished with ten men. Di Lorenzo is out with an adductor tear, Marianucci is suspended, Lobotka is out until late December, and Olivera has only just recovered after going off injured against Juventus. That means an attacker at right wing-back, Gilmour alone at the base of midfield, and no senior defender on the bench.

The key matchup is Lazio's left side, with Tavares overlapping, against that makeshift right wing-back. Isaksen against a just-recovered Olivera is the second front. Zaccagni's absence takes some creation away from Lazio, but the flank route survives without him: Tavares and Isaksen built a goal at Juventus, and Lazio's late winners against Cagliari, Monza and Juventus came from bench players. Rovella, Marusic, Pedraza and Pinamonti can all arrive from the bench after the hour.

Napoli's best route is a fast start out of their training retreat, De Bruyne finding McTominay's late runs or a cross for Hojlund. Even when they have led recently, the lead has not held, and Lazio showed against Cagliari they can come from behind with late crosses.

So I expect a level or narrow first half, then Lazio's width, set pieces and fresher legs pressing on a tiring, patched Napoli back line. That is why I'm siding with Lazio, with the draw covered.
